Privacy Policy

How Carda Electrics collects, uses and looks after your personal information.

Carda Electrics (ABN 52 632 661 477) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What We Collect

We only collect what we need to quote and carry out electrical work:

  • Contact details - your name, phone number and email address, so we can call you back and send a quote or invoice.
  • Job details - the address of the property, what needs doing, and any photographs or documents you send us about it.
  • Compliance records - where we complete a Certificate of Electrical Safety, the record of the work and the property it relates to. Energy Safe Victoria requires this.
  • Website usage - anonymous or pseudonymous information about how you use this site. See ‘Cookies and analytics’ below.

We don’t collect sensitive information as the Privacy Act defines it, and we don’t ask for payment card details through this website.

How We Collect It

Usually you give it to us directly: through the quote form on this site, by phone, by email, or in person when we attend a job. If a real estate agent, body corporate or property manager engages us on a tenant’s or owner’s behalf, we may receive your contact details from them instead.

Why We Use It

  • To quote on work, book it in, and carry it out
  • To contact you about a job in progress, including a courtesy call before we arrive
  • To invoice you and keep the accounting records the law requires
  • To issue and retain compliance documentation
  • To answer a question or resolve a complaint
  • To improve this website and understand which pages people find useful

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for marketing you haven’t asked for.

Cookies and Analytics

This site loads third-party scripts, most of them through Google Tag Manager. Between them they may set cookies or identifiers in your browser:

  • Google Analytics 4 - measures pages viewed, how people arrive at the site, and which buttons and forms get used. Google may process this data outside Australia.
  • Delacon call tracking - swaps the phone number shown on the page so we can tell which marketing a call came from. It records the number displayed and the source of your visit, not the content of your call.
  • HubSpot - powers the quote form. What you type into that form goes to HubSpot, and their privacy terms apply to it as well as ours.
  • Google Maps - the maps on our contact and areas pages are embedded from Google. Loading one tells Google you visited that page, and Google may set its own cookies. The maps load only when you scroll to them, and nothing you type on our site is sent to Google through them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them, though the quote form may not.

Who We Share It With

We share personal information only where we need to:

  • Our own team and subcontractors, so they can do the work
  • Service providers who run parts of our business - the website host, the form and analytics providers listed above, our accounting software
  • Energy Safe Victoria, where a Certificate of Electrical Safety requires it
  • Anyone you’ve asked us to deal with on your behalf, such as your property manager or body corporate
  • Where the law requires it

Some of these providers store data overseas. We choose established providers, but we can’t control the privacy laws of every country they operate in.

How We Look After It

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, or as long as the law requires us to keep it - compliance and tax records have their own minimum retention periods. Electronic records sit with reputable providers behind access controls; paper records are kept securely and destroyed when they’re no longer needed.

No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong and it’s likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Getting at Your Information, and Correcting It

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it’s wrong. Email us and we’ll respond within a reasonable time. There’s no charge for asking, though we may charge for the cost of putting together a large request. If we can’t give you what you’ve asked for, we’ll tell you why.

Complaints

If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, contact us first - most things are quickest to fix directly. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled it, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date it was last updated shown below.
